Skeeter's Chair Company became a reality in December 2024 after its owner, Kevin had two epiphanies while setting out to build the traditional Adirondak ski chair for himself.
"Those adarondak chairs are so cool but are a real PITA to get out of (laughing)" was the initial catalyst for a new design.
Kevin also respects the ingenious design
Skeeter's Chair Company became a reality in December 2024 after its owner, Kevin had two epiphanies while setting out to build the traditional Adirondak ski chair for himself.
"Those adarondak chairs are so cool but are a real PITA to get out of (laughing)" was the initial catalyst for a new design.
Kevin also respects the ingenious design of the classic boot binding and wanted to memorialize the binding into the design.
The initial build quickly became a prototype after Kevin realized that there is an emotional connection with the skis used for each build. Kevin originally used skis donated by his father-in-law for his personal chair. While the chair looked amazing, the skis seemed to have a connection with their owner, so Kevin gifted the prototype to his FIL for Xmas 2024. The reaction was priceless...
Skeeter's Chair Company prides itself on the idea that we can repurpose an incredibly designed "textile" that is destined for the landfill due to technology advancement into functional art that will be a centerpiece of your home.
We are so excited by this opportunity that we decided to build a company around the concept.
One of the most important features of a comfortable chair is the ability to "rock". The base design that memorializes the boot binding also provides the "rocking" motion by allowing the ski that is used for the base of the chair to flex.
The design is so novel that Kevin is pursuing patent protection.
Kevin set out to build a chair that felt as good as it looked after departing from the traditional Adirondak design. Seat height, lumbar support and chair back height that provides for a comfortable nap were all design considerations successfully met.
This is the most comfortable chair in our home.
If you have an old quiver of alpine skis that are collecting dust in your garage, but you cannot get yourself to purge them and you cannot find a buyer, you now have a chair that will transform those joyful memories into functional art for your home. Each chair requires 3 pairs of skis. Kevin will gladly work with your quiver to make you something truly special.
